Judicial Review: Bite Beauty Lip Shine

Bite Beauty Lip Shine in Melon with boxFor a while, I was going through a lipstick phase. That phase has passed (for now). I’ve been in the lipgloss mood again, so I had to hunt down a new product. I embarked on this daunting search while I was on vacation in Las Vegas, with my nieces as my shopping companions.

First, I tried Neiman Marcus where a kind sales person helped me try nearly a dozen different brands until I finally found a texture and color I liked in Chanel Glossimer. And then they were out of stock. Boo. Next stop was Sephora, where I came upon Bite Beauty. I was attracted to the display and packaging and perused the testers. SOLD.

Bite Beauty is a lip product-only line based in Canada, sold exclusively at Sephora. All of their products use food grade ingredients with their star ingredient being super antioxidant resveratrol, the same antioxidant found in red wine. Bite products are free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, and lots of other unnatural ingredients.

Bite Beauty LipGloss in Melon, open tube with wand displayed

The Good: The plastic tube of Lip Shine has a nice weight to it, topped with a matte charcoal grey cap. The sponge-tip wand applicator is angled for ease of application. After extensive color swatching, I decided on Melon, a pinkish-peach shade that goes on sheer but has enough pop of color. It also has a sweet and fruity scent that I enjoy.

Bite claims that each tube of Lip Shine contains the reservatrol equivalent of five glasses of red wine. Lipgloss that’s good for you! Plus, it contains the emollient lanolin, which is awesome for someone like me that suffers from lips that peel easily. And to complete the trifecta, Lip Shine contains jojoba spheres for “time-released long-lasting hydration”.

The Questionable: I can’t think of a thing that I don’t like about this lipgloss. Except that because I use it so often, I’ll need to buy another tube soon. It’s $20, so it’s not cheap, but it’s also not as expensive as the Chanel lipgloss I almost bought.

Jenn wearing Bite Beauty Lip Shine in Melon

The Verdict: I. LOVE. THIS. LIPGLOSS. After wearing it just a few times, I nearly went back to Sephora to buy three more shades. It feels substantive without being sticky, wears well and contains many good-for-you ingredients. I do believe the condition of my lips improves after wearing Lip Shine. What’s not to love?
