Back in September, I wrote a post about my five-minute make-up face. Now that the heat has FINALLY gone away, I can tolerate wearing a little more product. For winter, I’ve been wearing foundation everyday and have punched up the color on my lips. Here’s my go-to make-up look when I want to quickly get out the door but still look put together.

Beauty Makeover Shopping Spree!
Lynnette is one of our nearest and dearest friends. I can’t really speak enough about how much I love this woman. She is truly awesome. So when she asked me a few months ago if I would help her buy some skincare and make-up products, I said absolutely, yes.
Lynnette is 47 years-old, has raised two beautiful daughters both in their 20s, is married to a wonderful man, and works full-time. As you can see from the photo above, she has bright blue eyes and great luminous skin. Let’s all hope we age as well as she has.
Travaasa part 2: This ain’t your mother’s spa (but should be)!
When it comes to the full Travaasa Austin experience, Jenn’s post here can’t be topped. (Nor can the Travaasa experience, for that matter.) We only spent about six hours there, yet we left feeling like we’d had a full weekend away from it all.
I learned two important things that Saturday:
- Riding a mechanical bull is way harder and three times as fun as you’d expect.
- You do NOT want to thumb-wrestle Loni.
Local Love: Lash Extensions by Betty Lash
Christmastime is about tradition. Last year I instituted a new tradition of my own: lash extensions. What does this have to do with the spirit of Christmas, you’re wondering? Well, Christmas is about celebrating, which means you’re going to lots of parties and social events, and you want to look your best for said outings right? So when you really think about it, it’s un-Christmas-like to NOT get lash extensions. In fact it makes you a Scrooge.
Yeah, I can rationalize anything. Continue reading
A Day at Travaasa: A Spa-tacular Way to Slooow Down
Back in October, Travaasa reached out to us about visiting their property, trying out some treatments and activities, and sharing our experiences with our readers. We had both been out to Travaasa for an event, but neither one of us had partaken in all the Travaasa goodies. Of course, we enthusiastically said “YES” to this generous offer.
This past Saturday was the big day, and I was signed up for their Organic Ultimate Hydration Facial. I had been having issues with some unsightly (to me) bumps on my forehead, so I was happy to have a professional take a close look and hopefully nip those in the bud.
Beauty on a Shoestring: Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick, Lipgloss, and Lip Butter
As I’ve told you before (see Babe on a Budget), my local grocery store, H-E-B, is one of my favorite places to shop for make-up products. Especially, when I want to be adventurous and try new stuff. Lately, I’ve been really into the Revlon ColorBurst lip line-up. Thanks to strategic coupon usage, all three of these products cost me less than $15. TOTAL.
First up is Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick. I had read good things about this lipstick, so I thought I’d give it a try. I first bought the lipsticks in Coral and Fuchsia and later purchased Raspberry. Fuchsia is my favorite. The ColorBurst lipstick comes in a black tube with what I’ve learned is the signature diamond-patterned embossed casing. It’s a very bright … well, fuchsia color. The formula is creamy and smooth with good pigmentation. When I wear it, I get lots of compliments. (I’m telling y’all, bright lipstick is something everyone should try.) This lipstick was selling at H-E-B for $6.48, and at the time there was a $2 off coupon, so it cost me a grand total of $4.48. Continue reading
Prized Products: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar
In this series of “Prized Products”, we’ll share those make-up, skincare, and hair products that we just can’t live without.
If you see me wearing eyeliner, 8 times out of 10, I’m wearing Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. And out of those 8 times, 7 of them I’ll be wearing that eyeliner in Rockstar. Aside from the kick-ass name, it’s a fabulous dark purple color that I think anyone can wear.
