It’s May, and that can only mean one thing in the beauty world. It’s time for InStyle magazine’s annual Best Beauty Buys issue! As in past years, many products in this year’s issue are ones I’ve discussed on the blog or currently use. Here’s a rundown of some of my favorites. Continue reading
I’m working on a new “What’s New in Foundation” post, and while I was trying on my first sample, I thought, why not share with you a step-by-step makeup look for the spring. Coincidentally, all the major shades are named some version of “nude”, a great fresh palette for this transitional weather period. So that you can really see the effect of each product, I’ve broken down each step. For a simpler application, pick out the steps you find most essential.
I know many women are intimidated by eyeshadow. Don’t be scared, ladies! Eyeshadow is the best. Like paint for your walls, it’s a cheap and easy way to brighten things up. It’s easier than you think to apply everyday. Here’s my no-fail formula.
Some mornings, I wake up eager and ready to pull together a detailed, fabulous makeup look. Most mornings, I have snoozed for 18 minutes, am running late, and need to pull together a quick made-up face. Here’s the rundown for a look I’ve been doing a lot the past few months. It takes me about 7-8 minutes, so for those not as quick on the draw, let’s call it an even 10 minutes.
Most of you probably already know about this product, and I feel foolish that I haven’t been using it for years. To think, all those instances of creased eyeshadow could have easily been avoided if I had only been using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. But like Oasis, “I won’t look back in anger”, rather I will enjoy a future filled with long-lasting, crease-free eye makeup. I only started using this primer in the past year, but its so damn good that I have no qualms granting it Prized Product status. Continue reading
Don’t know about you, but I always love reading magazine features where people talk about their top picks or favorite items. That’s why I’m tickled pink to be included in this month’s issue of Austin Monthly sharing some of my “Favorite Things”. My list covers eight items I can’t live without, including products you’ve seen me talk about on the blog, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and Dior Diorshow Iconic Mascara. And If you’re needing incentive to pick up a copy, might I mention that this is Austin Monthly’s annual most eligible Bachelors Issue? Jump to it, ladies!
Back in September, I wrote a post about my five-minute make-up face. Now that the heat has FINALLY gone away, I can tolerate wearing a little more product. For winter, I’ve been wearing foundation everyday and have punched up the color on my lips. Here’s my go-to make-up look when I want to quickly get out the door but still look put together.
Lynnette is one of our nearest and dearest friends. I can’t really speak enough about how much I love this woman. She is truly awesome. So when she asked me a few months ago if I would help her buy some skincare and make-up products, I said absolutely, yes.
Lynnette is 47 years-old, has raised two beautiful daughters both in their 20s, is married to a wonderful man, and works full-time. As you can see from the photo above, she has bright blue eyes and great luminous skin. Let’s all hope we age as well as she has.
In this series of “Prized Products”, we’ll share those make-up, skincare, and hair products that we just can’t live without.
If you see me wearing eyeliner, 8 times out of 10, I’m wearing Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. And out of those 8 times, 7 of them I’ll be wearing that eyeliner in Rockstar. Aside from the kick-ass name, it’s a fabulous dark purple color that I think anyone can wear.
