And then Bombshell won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the Oscars on Sunday night. I thought, “I better get on that!” And I did last night. And it was A LOT of product. Here’s my play by play.
Here’s me, starting from scratch. That means a freshly washed face followed by a serum and moisturizer. Makeup always sits better on a moisturized palette.

This past Monday night I had the lucky opportunity to see St. Vincent at ACL Live at Moody Theater. St. Vincent is singer-songwriter and Dallas native Annie Clark; she’s a talented guitarist with an ethereal voice who sings over orchestral art-rock music. I had seen her short SXSW set at Antone’s a few years ago, and I was excited to see her perform in this awesome new venue. Last time we talked, Jenn had responded to some make-up inspirations that I sent her. She was on board for a neutral palette of an overall peach overtone, with punched up eyes. Based on that information, I devised an “ingredients list” to cook-up Jenn’s perfect wedding make-up look. Some of the products she would buy, and some I would bring with me. To come up with this list, I mentally walked through her make-up application.
