A few months ago I was in California, and my awesome sister Emily (by the way, I have three sisters, all awesome) gave me a grab bag of goodies from SKINFOOD. Knowing that her little sister loves makeup, Emily wanted to share this line of Korean products that are now sold in San Francisco, where she lives. I haven’t tried all the products she gave me yet, but I did try this Vita Tok Lipgloss. It’s fabulous!
When I was in the Philippines last year, I remember seeing SKINFOOD stores in the mall. Like a moth to a flame, I was drawn to the fresh packaging and food-derived names. According to the (skimpy) website, “SKINFOOD is the first food cosmetic brand developed in Korea, which emphasizes the importance of ‘feeding’ our skin with the same food we rely on for healthy bodies.”
The Good: My sister bought me the BR02 Mocha Aid shade in this lipgloss. It’s a rosy brown color with a glittery pink shimmer and has a sweet berry scent. It comes with a typical doe foot applicator, and while it has no impact on the performance of the gloss, I really buysoma like the see-through wand.
The gloss is not too thick, not too thin. It imparts a good dose of color without being opaque. It feels great on and not at all sticky. Living up to the description on the tube, Vita Tok Lipgloss is hydrating.
The Questionable: The only issue I have with Vita Tok Lipgloss is not knowing what’s in it. As I mentioned above, the English website doesn’t have a lot of information. Perhaps those details are reserved for Korean website. I haven’t had any bad reactions, and my lips feel soft after application, so I give the mystery ingredients a passing grade.
The Verdict: I don’t know what’s in Vita Tok lipgloss, but I love it. It’s shiny without feeling tacky. It’s pink but nude. And your guess is as good as mine as to what “Vita Tok” means, but apparently SKINFOOD has a whole Vita Tok line. Family and friends in San Francisco and the Philippines, you know what to buy me!
